Bobbye Cochran is an American figurative painter. She was raised in the Midwest and received her BFA from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Parallel to her longtime work as a fine artist, she had an extensive career as an illustrator and graphic designer. She was the lead creative director and illustrator for her boutique firm for many years.

She says: “My work is focused on evocative studies and probing, impressionistic portraits and landscapes. I work in oil, Flashe, acrylics and pastels. My design and advertising career definitely influenced my fine artwork, as evidenced by my love of high-contrast palettes and the finely calibrated balance of linear forms with atmospheric elements. I strive for the work to deliver an immediate visual and emotional impact, but also an organic richness, unfolding over time in its depth and color.”

Cochran has garnered awards such as Adweek’s “National Illustrator of the Year,” while also joining the ranks of the famous “Chicago 27 Designers”.

She resides in Chicago, Illinois and enjoys painting full time.
